Privacy Policy

The short version: ConvertEbooks has no analytics and no ad trackers. Ordinary conversions happen on your device. Only pages you deliberately send to the AI reader leave your browser, and we do not keep those page images or their text on our servers.

What stays on your device

  • Every file you add to the converter, and every book produced by a local conversion.
  • Text produced by free local OCR. Tesseract runs inside the browser tab.
  • Your theme and language preferences, stored in localStorage.

What we store on the server

  • Account: your Google account identifier, email address, name and profile picture URL.
  • Usage: how many free AI pages you have used, and how many paid pages remain.
  • Purchases: Paddle customer and transaction identifiers, the price identifier, page count and timestamps. Card details are handled by Paddle and never reach us.
  • AI accounting: the model name, token counts and a timestamp for each AI page. This does not contain page text or the page image.
  • Webhook ledger: Paddle event identifiers needed to prevent duplicate fulfillment.

What the AI reader sends

When you choose AI OCR, ConvertEbooks renders one PDF page in your browser as a JPEG and sends it, with a language hint, to our Cloudflare-hosted API. Our server forwards that request to DeepSeek's vision API using a server-side key. The response text is returned to your browser and used to build your converted book. We do not store the image or the returned page text. The request may be subject to DeepSeek's own privacy terms while it is being processed.

If you do not use AI OCR, no book content is sent to our server.

Third parties

  • Google for sign-in. We receive your name, email address and profile picture.
  • Paddle for checkout, payments, tax and invoices. Paddle is the merchant of record.
  • DeepSeek for AI page transcription, only on the pages you choose.
  • Cloudflare for hosting, the Functions API and D1 storage.
  • jsDelivr for the optional Tesseract.js engine and its language data on the free OCR path.

Cookies and local storage

ConvertEbooks sets one first-party HttpOnly session cookie after sign-in. It contains a signed session identifier; it is not a tracking cookie. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Local preferences are stored in localStorage under keys beginning with theme and bl_.

Retention and your rights

Account, usage and purchase records are kept while your account is active and for as long as needed for tax and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time. Records that the law requires us or Paddle to keep are the exception. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export or object to processing.

Children

ConvertEbooks is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
